Ballots open July 9!


The Pueblo Chieftain’s “Best of Pueblo” will allow readers to select the very best across Pueblo County. Nearly 200 awards will be given in the categories of: LIFE, PLACES & FACES, WINE & DINE, and BUSINESSES.

Best of Pueblo will feature the best of the best in Pueblo selected by you – our readers – and then shared with the rest of our community.

Best of Pueblo will kick off on July 9, with a two-week voting period through July 22, 2017, to determine the “Best of Pueblo” in each category. In early October, winners will be announced at a special community event.

The winners will also be online at The winners will receive Best of Pueblo awards to display and be given permission to use the Best of Pueblo logo on all marketing collateral. Local businesses and individuals are encouraged to promote themselves for Best of Pueblo with cards, flyers, posters, banner ads and logos provided through your advertising account executive.

To cast your vote for Best of Pueblo 2017, return the paper ballot published in The Pueblo Chieftain or visit and follow the steps to vote in each category.  We strongly encourage on-line voting!

Voting begins July 9.  Each registered user may cast a vote in each category. Winners for each category will be determined by tabulating valid votes received during the voting period. The voting period is July 9-22, 2017. Odds of winning are determined by the number of eligible entries received. All information becomes the property of The Pueblo Chieftain.


On-Line Voting will begin at 12:00:01 AM (local Colorado time) on Sunday, July 9, 2017, and be through 11:59:59 PM. (local Colorado time) on Saturday, July 22, 2017.

Paper ballots must be post marked by Saturday, July 22, to be eligible for the vote.


Q. What is the Best of Pueblo?

A. It is a reader poll designed to let you share all the wonderful things you like about living here, from your favorite burger joint and pizza place, to the best street party and spot to take the kids on a Saturday afternoon. It looks at the community we love to live, work and play in.

Q. How does it work?

A. You log onto and vote for your favorite local people, businesses, and places day after day until on-line voting closes on Saturday, July 22, 2017. Mail-in paper ballots must be postmarked by Saturday, July 22, 2017, to accommodate manual entry time.

To vote online, simply register your email, select a category and choose your favorite from the options provided! Some categories may not have any options listed – just write in your pick for those ones. Don’t see your favorite pick? Take advantage of the ‘write-in’ area on any of the Best of Pueblo 2017 categories.

Vote daily for your favorites in all four groups – Life, Places & Faces, Wine & Dine, and Businesses.

If you see an option written in red, be sure to click it! This will help you explore more information about the local businesses you know and love.

Q. Why do I have to create a user profile?

A. Creating a user profile is quick and easy! This helps us monitor how often users can vote, and prevents other forms of voter fraud. The Chieftain aims to provide the most accurate results for our community and local businesses.

Having a user profile will also allow easy log-in for the next Pueblo Chieftain contest you’d like to enter.

Q. How many times may I vote?

A. You will be able to vote once daily at Be sure to encourage your customers to vote! We strongly encourage online voting, as in-paper ballots will only be published eight days. No photo copies.

Q. Who determines the winners?

A. The Pueblo Chieftain staff will determine the winners by counting valid reader votes. The candidates with the most votes win.

Q. Just what are the geographical boundaries for Best of Pueblo?

A. For the purposes of this contest, the Best of Pueblo is limited to inside Pueblo County. This means if you area business out east on the Mesa, in Beulah, Rye or anywhere inside the county line, you are eligible.

Q. May I vote for nominees outside of Pueblo County?

A. No. The contest is called Best of Pueblo because we want to uncover and celebrate all the great people, places and things Pueblo County has to offer. Votes for nominees with addresses outside of Pueblo County will be disqualified.

Q. Who should I vote for?

A. That is up to you and your friends. Just keep it in Pueblo County and remember to kept is clean and respectful, please.

No purchase is necessary to enter this contest. The Pueblo Chieftain’s Best of Pueblo is open to all businesses within Pueblo County. In addition to the requirements set forth below, voters will be required to enter their name and valid e-mail address in order to submit their on-line vote. Voter information will not be sold; it is necessary for The Pueblo Chieftain’s internal records. Names and a valid phone number will be required for all paper ballots returned by mail or dropped off at The Chieftain’s office at 825 W. Sixth Street. By nominating or voting for a business or individual, participants are accepting the terms and conditions of these rules and agree to be bound by them. Best of Pueblo is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Best of Pueblo is void where prohibited by law. The Pueblo Chieftain reserves the right to interpret votes how they see fit, withdraw or suspend any entrants, change any functionality or feature on the Website and revise these terms and conditions at any time and without notice.


All prizes and benefits of any kind awarded herein, including without limitation, must be accepted as awarded without substitution and are not transferable, not for resale, and have no cash surrender value. Prizes cannot be refunded, transferred, reissued, revalidated or combined with any other offer and must be accepted as is. The Pueblo Chieftain reserves the right to verify eligibility qualifications of all Best of Pueblo entrants and participants. All Best of Pueblo entrants and participants must comply with these Rules. By entering or participating in Best of Pueblo, all entrants and participants irrevocably grant The Pueblo Chieftain the right to include their name and information in any publicity carried out by The Pueblo Chieftain and agree to grant to The Pueblo Chieftain a nonexclusive irrevocable license and right to incorporate, use and reproduce their photograph, voice, name and likeness in whole or in part in and in connection with the advertising, exhibiting, marketing, promotion and exploitation of The Pueblo Chieftain in any manner, in all media throughout the world.
