Gold: Fred Cortese III

Master Deputy Fred Cortese started in the Pueblo County Jail in 1989, but it didn’t take long before he moved to the patrol division, where he’s served ever since. Cortese, like the other patrolmen with the Sheriff’s Office, knows and serves all quadrants of the county. But Cortese also leaves his mark on the younger generations of deputies, having served for nearly 20 years as a patrol training officer. Cortese has received a number of commendations and praise for his work as a training officers and is lauded for his patience on the job.
