Whether small or tall, locals consider the Pueblo Zoo to be a favorite for a fantastic family outing. Since its establishment in 1934, the zoo is home to historic architecture that can be seen throughout the grounds, not to mention the plethora of furry, slimy, tiny and large animals to spot during a visit. There are more than 120 animal species from around the world featured at the zoo. Recently, the zoo has welcomed African Painted Dogs as its newest exhibit and is still home to favorite animal exhibits including the Pioneer Ranch, The Islands of Life Building, and the World of Color exhibit. Zoo-goers young and old continue to enjoy the zoo as it is open year round, seven days a week. In the winter months, enjoy a walk through the ElectriCritters exhibit for a fun mixture of zoo-life and holiday spirit with animated animal creations.
