Police officer

Pueblo police Sgt. Eric Gonzales

Gold: Sgt. Eric Gonzales

A Pueblo native, Gonzales has been serving his hometown community for the past 22 years, beginning his career in law enforcement in 1993 as a Pueblo County Sheriff’s deputy. He joined the Pueblo Police Department in 1997 and in 2003 was named the 2003 D.A.R.E. officer of the year in Colorado. Gonzales currently serves as the department’s public information officer and sergeant of the Community Service Division. “It’s an honor as a lifelong Puebloan to be named as Pueblo’s top police officer,” Gonzales said. “There were role models in my life and I can only hope that I can be or have been one for others. It is a challenging and ever changing field. One thing that hasn’t changed is the proud moments of wearing a uniform of the community I grew up in and the good feeling of helping those that turn to us in a time of need.”
