For 143 years, Pueblo has played host to the Colorado State Fair. From its humble beginnings in 1869, the year event held in August draws tens of thousands of people from throughout Colorado. Only once in its history has the Fair been canceled, that being in 1917 during World War I when the Fairgrounds’ horse stables and open space provided an ideal training facility for the Army National Guard.
